I want distance from someone.
This group is about space rather than endings. Distance without a confrontation, a boundary that holds without being defended weekly, a door that stops reopening.
The lightest option asks for room and nothing more. Heavier ones clear a place rather than a person — the instinct behind salt at a threshold and a broom sweeping outward — for a room that still feels like somebody else's after they have gone.
There is quieting work here too, for talk being spread about you. It is aimed at the words, not at whoever is saying them, and it asks for silence rather than anything further.
People reach for these worn down rather than furious. The pattern is usually somebody who keeps arriving where they are not wanted, and no polite way left to say so.
Everything is symbolic and none of it acts on a person. The rituals work on your own boundary, a room, or a stream of talk, and claim no effect on anyone.
