Binding
Holding an influence still rather than sending it away.
A binding asks one thing: that something stop moving. It does not banish, it does not punish, and it does not send anything anywhere. It holds, and then closes the thread so that what was held stays held.
Knot magic is among the oldest recorded forms of this, and the freezer spell is its twentieth-century descendant — a working that pauses gossip, interference or a plan rather than doing anything to whoever set it going. Practitioners have always drawn the line there, and it is a sensible line.
People choose a binding when they do not want something gone so much as stopped. An influence spreading through a group. A pattern of behaviour that keeps advancing. A plan cooling before it moves.

All of it is symbolic and none of it acts on a person. A binding here restrains an influence in your own intention, claims no effect on anyone, and never asks you for anything that would identify a real individual.
