I am starting something.

Thresholds have always been marked. Salt at a new door, a blessing over a first day, a word said before stepping across. The instinct is nearly universal and the reason is practical: an unmarked beginning gets swallowed by the week that follows it.

This is for the first day, the move, the month turning over, or the decision you already made and have not yet acknowledged out loud. That last one is the most common and the least obvious.

The rituals are short by design. A blessing spoken over what you are walking into, or an intention named and set. Either way the beginning gets a moment of its own rather than dissolving into logistics.

Nothing here says how the thing will go. No outcome is promised and nothing is assured about what you are starting — the ritual marks the threshold, and the walk is still yours.

Do it early. A beginning marked three weeks in is a different, smaller thing.
