I want to feel safe and shielded.

Protection work is about deciding where your edges are. The nazar against a hard look, salt across a doorway, a circle drawn before anything else begins: the practice is old, widespread, and it names itself rather than promising anything.

People reach for it at two moments. Before — the hour ahead of something demanding, when you want to walk in whole. And after, when something got through and you want to close up again rather than carry it around all evening.

The rituals here gather your own edges and hold them. Several ask you to ground first, because a field has to have a centre before it has a boundary.

None of them make you safe from anything in the world, and none of them say they do. What the practice offers is a deliberate moment of turning your attention to your own footing before you need it — which is a real thing, and a smaller one than this category usually sells.

If you are actually in trouble, this is not the tool. Talk to someone who can help.
